Create an API key
Create a key for the SignQuick API and make your first request.
On the SignQuick Team plan, an Owner or Admin creates API keys in Settings, then API Keys; each key is shown only once.
Who can use this feature?
- Plans
- Team. On Free and Pro, existing keys stay visible and the page shows Upgrade Plan.
- Who can do it
- Owners and Admins create and revoke keys. Other members see the key list.
Create an API key
Each key has its own permissions, such as Create documents, Send documents and Embed for signing. All of them are selected by default.
- Step 1: In the sidebar, select Settings, the gear icon next to your name.
- Step 2: Select API Keys.
- Step 3: Select Create Key.
- Step 4: Enter a Key Name that says where the key is used.
- Step 5: Under Key mode, choose Live key, or Test key, when available, for sandbox documents.
- Step 6: Under Permissions, clear any permission the key doesn't need.
- Step 7: Select Create Key.
- Step 8: Copy the key from the API Key Created — Copy it now! banner and store it securely.
Result: The key isn't shown again. Its row shows Never used until the first request.
Make your first request
Send the key as a bearer token in the Authorization header. The API creates documents from a shared template or from a PDF you upload.
- Step 1: Under API quick start, copy the List API-ready templates request.
- Step 2: Set SIGNQUICK_API_KEY to your key in your terminal.
- Step 3: Run the request.
Result: The response lists the shared templates your key can use.
Common questions
How do I revoke a key?
Select the revoke button in the key's row. The key moves to Revoked Keys and stops working. Removing a teammate also revokes the keys they created.
What does a test key create?
A test key creates sandbox documents and never sends email. They appear under Developer sandbox on the same page and are purged after 30 days.
