To compare e-signature pricing, calculate who needs to send, how many separate requests you create, which features you need, and how long you are committing to pay. A monthly headline price answers only part of that question.
Use this order: count your work, check the plan’s counting rules, confirm the required features, and compare the full commitment. The worksheet below helps you do that without assuming every provider measures usage the same way.
Our perspective: SignQuick sells e-signature software. This guide explains how to evaluate a subscription, including our own. It is not an independent ranking or a claim that SignQuick is the best fit for every team. Product references were checked October 12, 2026.Four units that are easy to confuse
| Unit | What it usually describes | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Sender or user seat | A person with access to prepare, send, or manage requests | Which roles require payment and whether there is a minimum seat count |
| Envelope or transaction | A provider-defined signing request | How documents, recipients, bulk copies, and retries affect the count |
| Document allowance | The number of document records included in a period | Whether creation, sending, or completion consumes it |
| Signature or recipient | A person’s action or participation in a request | Whether it has its own charge or sits within another allowance |
Docusign’s envelope explanation describes a container that can include more than one document and recipient. That is why “three signatures” does not automatically mean “three envelopes.”
These labels are not interchangeable across providers. Before comparing two plans, write down each provider’s own definition beside its allowance.
Count requests using three practical examples
These scenarios are hypothetical, not customer statistics.
One agreement with three signers
You prepare one engagement agreement for the client, their business partner, and yourself. If all three participate in one request, you have one request with three recipients. That is different from sending three independent copies.
Under Docusign’s documented envelope rule, one sent envelope counts once regardless of its documents or signers. Other products may define their unit differently; consult the current pricing FAQ.
Twenty separate client agreements
Twenty clients each need their own agreement and their own completed record. Budget for twenty separate requests under a per-request model, even when the documents start from the same template.
One reusable template saves preparation. It does not mean every agreement created from it shares one usage unit.
One CSV batch with thirty rows
A batch can turn thirty rows into thirty individual documents. A “Send” click is not necessarily the billing unit.
If each row contains a client and a countersigner, the result may still be thirty documents, each with two participants. Check both the document allowance and the maximum rows permitted in one batch. Our CSV sending guide explains the difference between a row, a role, and a document.
Compare the commitment, not just the payment
Keep three clocks separate:
- Contract term: how long you commit to the service.
- Payment frequency: when money is collected.
- Allowance reset: when the included usage becomes available again.
For example, an annual plan paid monthly can still create a one-year obligation. An annual allowance divided by twelve is an average for budgeting, not necessarily a monthly quota.
Docusign’s pricing page currently distinguishes an annual commitment paid monthly from a monthly plan. It also says sent envelopes consume allowance even when they are not completed. Read those terms before estimating cost from signed agreements alone.
For any provider, verify currency, tax treatment, promotional periods, renewal pricing, cancellation conditions, and whether unused allowance carries over. A purchase screen can differ by country or account.

| Question | Your requirement | Provider answer |
|---|---|---|
| Who prepares or sends requests? | [Names or roles; number of seats] | [Billable roles and minimum seats] |
| How many separate requests in a typical month? | [Count] | [Included allowance and unit] |
| What is the busiest month or batch? | [Peak requests; largest batch] | [Batch and period limits] |
| How many people sign each document? | [Typical and maximum] | [Recipient limits or fees] |
| When does usage count? | [Need to account for drafts and failed sends] | [Creation, send, completion, other] |
| What happens when a request is replaced? | [Expected revisions] | [New usage; refund or release policy] |
| Which features are essential? | [Templates, reminders, branding, approvals] | [Included tier and restrictions] |
| Is software creating requests through an API? | [Expected API volume] | [Separate plan, allowance, or charge] |
| How is the subscription billed? | [Monthly or annual preference] | [Term, payment frequency, taxes] |
| What happens at the limit or at renewal? | [Need for predictability] | [Blocked sends, overage price, renewal terms] |
| Can you keep completed records? | [Download and access needs] | [Export and post-cancellation rules] |
Ask for explicit answers to “unlimited.” Does it cover ordinary web requests, automated sends, API use, or all three? Are SMS delivery and identity checks separate? A short feature label is not a complete purchasing specification.
A worked budget example
Imagine a two-person studio expects eighteen ordinary requests and twelve separate renewals in a month. That is thirty requests under a per-request counting model. The renewals may be one batch, but they still need twelve completed records.
Now compare two fictional offers:
| Offer | Hypothetical terms | What the studio should calculate |
|---|---|---|
| A | USD 12 per sender per month; 20 requests pooled per month; USD 2 per extra request | Two seats cost USD 24; ten extra requests cost USD 20; subtotal USD 44 before tax |
| B | USD 35 per workspace per month; two senders and 40 requests included | Subtotal USD 35 before tax, if all required features are included |
These are invented offers solely to demonstrate arithmetic. They are not vendor prices. If A’s allowance were twenty per sender instead of pooled, the result would change. If B lacked a required feature, its lower subtotal would not settle the decision.
How to evaluate SignQuick’s allowance
SignQuick’s current pricing page lists three documents per month on Free, fifty on Pro, and unlimited web documents on Team. Free includes one reusable template; Pro includes ten. Team is priced per user. Check the selected billing cycle and purchase screen for the amount that applies to your account. After you sign up, the help center shows where to see your current plan and billing controls.
Do not treat the document allowance as a count of completed signatures. In the current web workflow, quota is reserved during document creation, before recipients finish signing. Monitor the account’s usage information; do not assume an unsigned document is free of usage or that deleting one restores a slot. The manual Send reminder action on an existing request is a different operation from creating a replacement document. If you change the source agreement and create another record, budget for another document. For a failed or uncertain operation, check the existing record before starting again.
Team’s web-document allowance also does not mean every channel is unlimited. API usage has a separate allowance, and bulk sending has a batch-size limit. Confirm those details if either is central to your work.

Before you choose a plan
Take one real month of work and your busiest expected batch. Count requests that were replaced or never completed, identify everyone who needs sender access, and list the features you would actually use. Apply each provider’s rules to those same inputs.
Create a free SignQuick account if you want to evaluate the document workflow with a harmless sample. Use the worksheet to judge whether the plan fits your work before committing to a paid subscription.Sources checked October 12, 2026. Frequently asked questions
Is e-signature pricing per user or per document?
It can be both. A subscription may charge for sender seats while limiting envelopes, documents, or transactions. Additional features and API usage may have separate allowances.
Is an envelope the same as a signature?
No. Docusign describes an envelope as a container that can hold multiple documents and recipients. Count the separate requests you send, then apply the provider's published billing rules.
Does billed monthly mean I can cancel after one month?
Not necessarily. An annual commitment can be collected in monthly installments. Check the contract term, payment frequency, renewal rules, and cancellation conditions separately.
Do unsigned requests use an allowance?
They can. Do not estimate usage from completed agreements alone. Providers may count when a request is sent or a document is created, before anyone signs.
Does unlimited signing include API and bulk sending?
Do not assume so. Web documents, API documents, batch size, automation, identity verification, and other features may each have their own limits.
